Top Places to Visit in Autumn | Coach Hire Comparison

As the weather begins to get colder and the nights longer, it can feel like the holiday season is over, when in fact there are a number of wonderful places to visit in the UK this Autumn.

Not only are there fewer people going on holiday in Autumn which means less crowded areas, there are often cheaper deals and less traffic on the roads. We all know the British weather can be a little unpredictable sometimes, but as long as you pack a coat and an umbrella, you’re sure to have just as much fun, you may even find yourself graced with some Autumn sun.

We’ve put together some of our favourite places to visit in Autumn.

  1. The New Forest

Is there anywhere better to see all the beautiful colours of autumn than the New Forest? Packed full of cosy pubs and quaint towns and villages, the New Forest is perfect for an Autumn getaway. The New Forest has been a popular holiday destination for years, meaning there’s a wide selection of accommodation to suit all needs and budgets. Choose from luxury hotels to self-catering holiday lodges, bed and breakfasts to camping sites – whatever you want, you’ll find it here.

We guarantee once you experience the peaceful, relaxing life of the New Forest you won’t want to leave. Spend your days exploring the ancient woodland, open moorlands and cliff tops and make friends with the ponies, cattle, donkeys and deer that roam free or enjoy all the wonderful day out and attractions on offer. Then end your day with a hearty pub dinner before heading back to your accommodation for a relaxing evening in.

  1. Brighton

It’s undeniable that a visit to Brighton in the summer is the perfect day out, but there’s plenty to get excited about a visit to Brighton in Autumn, too. Not only are the colours beautiful in Autumn, you’ll also get to enjoy the emptier beaches and the lanes without the hustle and bustle of summer foot traffic. The colder weather also means you’ll have no choice but to enjoy a delicious hot chocolate from Black Mocha to warm yourself up.

There are plenty of indoor activities to do in Brighton, such as the Sea Life Centre, which is the oldest operating aquarium in the world. Or, if you want to enjoy some of the best views of Brighton then head over to British Airways i360, which is an observation tower on the seafront which is made out of glass that rises 162 meters – the perfect place to enjoy some of the beautiful Brighton sunsets.

  1. Scottish Highlands

Early October is one of the best times to visit the Scottish Highlands, the landscape is filled with stunning autumnal colours and the environment is packed with Scotland’s enchanting wildlife, from red deer to grey seals.

With the peak of the tourist season over, heading to the Scottish Highlands in Autumn you’ll find the paths and trails are near-deserted, making the Highlands feel like your own personal playground. There are plenty of wonderful trails to enjoy, we recommend Dollar Glen where you’ll enjoy waterfalls and wildlife and see the remains of the 15th-century fortress, Castle Campbell.

  1. Pembrokeshire

Pembrokeshire is an ideal location to visit during Autumn, there are plenty of activities to enjoy from coasteering to walking or visiting the pretty seaside towns. One of our favourite Pembrokeshire seaside towns is the lovely location of Tenby. This Victorian seaside town has been a firm favourite for years and you’ll understand why if you visit this picture-perfect place.

Coasteering is a popular activity along the coast of Pembrokeshire, the rugged rocks provide the perfect place for leaping into the clean blue waters. It’s great fun but should only be carried out with experienced activity operators. If you’re lucky you may even be able to see some whales and dolphins while enjoying the beautiful coastline.
